Andre Ettema

COMPOSER | SOUND DESIGNER | FOUNDER of AME MUSIC

André Ettema is specialized in audio design and sound programming for artists and picture. André has been working closely with Junkie XL and collaborated as additional audio designer and synthesizer programmer for a lot of film and game scores. Credits include work of Scissor Sisters, Madonna, Justin Timberlake and the soundtracks for EA games SSX Blur and Need for Speed Prostreet. He also works for music software companies such as market leaders Native Instruments and Ableton where he designs sounds and presets for newly developed music software.

Five years ago he founded AME Music, a company specialized in music and creative sounddesign for film and filmtrailers, and audio branding for commercials and TV, client list includes brands like Audi, Lexus and British Airways, plus trailers for Transformers Dark of the Moon and Iron Man 3.

How do you compose music for a science fiction/ action trailer and how do you make the sounds. This talk will deal with composing the right music for trailers whether it be rock, orchestral or sounddesign only. Composer and sounddesigner Andre Ettema has composed music and/ or did sounddesign for trailers like Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon, Snowwhite and the Huntsmen, Zero Dark Thirty and Iron Man 3. Andre will talk about the creative and the business aspect.

Tim Thaler is a young man with a huge knowledge about the temporary music and media scene and it’s current paradigm shift. He knows about and can evaluate and communicate the circumstances of today’s new media compared to the “old” media world. He is very well organized and always “on the job”. As a senior he creates a working environment for his team that supports the abilities of each team member. He is blessed with a great amount of empathy, he can literally “feel” himself into the other person to create a working atmosphere which is productive and enjoyable. And fun, since he’s also a very nice colleague with a great sense for dry humour.

Tom Pearce

Owner at Practical Music

Tom is a Composer / Sound designer / Music producer with around 40 years experience in the audio industry and now he works as a freelancer with his own production company – Practical Music – where he handles game audio projects for a wide variety of clients and projects, from Princess Arabella (sound design and narration) to Panzar : Forged by Chaos (sound design, music mixing and voice characterisation). Recent projects include “Momonga Pinball Adventures” and “Muziq Revolutions”.

His clients include Atari, IMG, Paladin, Musigames, I’m-At-Home and more with whom he haves been involved not only in sound design and composition but also music licensing and soundtrack releases.

MuzyQ studio’s is the biggest complex of its kind within Europe. The centre has over 80 specially designed rehearsal studios, which differ in size and all have their own specific acoustics.

We will have our exhibition and the seminars in the basement, which is really cool and nerdy looking.On the ground floor you can visit the cafeteria and have a chat with friends, colleagues and alumni from all over the world. At night you can enter the first floor, where the Convention party will take part.

The host of this year’s SAE Alumni Convention will be SAE Amsterdam!
The Conventon will take place at the MuzyQ building in Amsterdam city and also at the SAE campus Amsterdam.
